Staying on the Queen Mary was mostly good. The ship was converted to a hotel decades ago but stays true to the nautical theme throughout the ship. The ship is a century old, and certainly has a lot of history behind her, which is available to guests to explore in the hotel area. There is also a guided tour that costs extra, but we did not take part in that as we did not have time.
The down sides were few. Individual rooms do not have climate control, so your room is set at whatever temperature the staff sets. There are also raised thresholds separating the bedroom from the bathroom, which could be a tripping hazard for anyone getting up in the middle of the dark. The faucet handles look to be original to the ship, as do the tub, sink, & toilet. That also means that it gives the bathrooms a very old and dirty appearance. I am quite sure they were clean, and they are in fact old, so I'm not sure that should be changed. The tub in our bathroom is awkward to stand in as the bottom slopes from the sides to the middle, so this may pose a slipping hazard for anyone not steady on their feet. And the walls don't mute any of the noise from the hallway or neighboring staterooms.
Finally, at check-in I was told there would be a $23 payable at that time. That was $20 more than Expedia disclosed. Not a deal breaker for us, but I don't like surprises, so be aware. I'm glad we stayed, but I don't see us returning now that we have done it once.
