"Friendly staff, free parking, a good-sized room, a very nice breakfast and lovely dinner in the hotel's restaurant. The only things missing were a lift and a kettle in the room. We would definitely include The Empereur in our next Corsica road trip."

"I came in December, which is their low season, so I was basically one of the very few people staying at the hotel. The receptionist was only around for the check-in. The cleaning staff only showed up once. The rest of the time, they expect you to call if you need help, which is not realistic for foreign travellers, especially if you are not fluent in French or Italian. The building is locked, so basic safety is not an issue. However, when the internet went out, I had no way to contact anyone...

"Being 3 star, we were not expecting luxury and this hotel was clean and simple with all the main facilities needed, including an open air pool. Great views across the mountain on our balcony and friendly staff so no complaints. If you are looking for more luxury and facilities on tap, this may not be foe you, as there is no kettle, few plugs, no fridge, in the room and no restaurant on site etc, which in more modern hotels tends to come as standard these days. "A brilliant construction and location in the stunning gorge location. Lovely room and large patio to enjoy breakfast alongside the roaring river. Parking was manageable at the roadside, and the lift ideal between floors. The owner and waitress were charming and informative, but we were both startled and disappointed at the continuing grumbles from the receptionist, especially when asked about messages that my daughter had sent there."
