"We stayed in four different 4-5 star hotels during our trip to Portugal. The Barrio Alto was my favorite! The staff was helpful and gracious with fantastic restaurant recommendations and dishes to choose, a gracious arrival bottle of wine, fruit and appetizers. We loved the double shower, design and furnishings of our room, and spectacular breakfast! Nothing was missed. We’ll be back!"

"We were a little concerned that the noise from the busy streets with people partying and drinking might make it a hard place to sleep, but the rooms were quiet. We walked across the street for the best breakfast we had in Lisbon, and all the major attractions were within walking distance."

"We filtered our hotel choices by those with parking but when we arrived we were told it was full. We had to scramble for parking. Street parking has a 2 hour limit until 7pm. Scary old elevator for two persons max, scary exposed wiring. Extremely hard double bed in our room, with a twin as well. Small bathroom but at least we had one. Could certainly use a new shower curtain. Dirty old carpets. Adequate breakfast, very Portuguese style. Great location. "

"The apartment was better than we imagined it would be. Clean, new, elevator (so helpful given the three story housing in Lisbon!) and comfortable. The bed was so comfortable and the decorations added a pleasant touch. The air conditioning, plumbing and electrical systems all seemed in top condition. The location was excellent in terms of restaurants, public transportation and sight seeing. "

"Superb. Really good conditions, breakfast was extremely good with tailor-made omelettes and coffee and a good selection to choose from around the buffet. Our superior room had incredible views to the miradouro - the castle could be easily seen. The staff was really friendly and helpful and stored our luggage conveniently after checkout. We will definitely come back!"

"What a find! Centrally located in a "local traffic only" part of Lisbon. Surrounded by the livelyness of the city, this is a peaceful oasis in the midst of it all. We stayed in one of the one bedroom appartments in high season for a very reasonable price. It was very clean and comfortable and had everything we needed! The front desk attendant was friendly and helpful! Breakfast was included and excellent. The interior patio was lovely as well. If we make it back to Lisbon, I would rebook this in...
