The hotel is a charming B&B in a safe and quiet area, with convenient access to the Red Line MBTA station for easy access to Cambridge and Boston. There are also amenties in Davis Square itself including bars, restaurants and the Somerville Theater.
The room was very clean and well maintained. The communal area is very quaint with a large dining table for enjoying breakfast with the other guests, and a selection of books, games and DVDs for borrowing during the stay. Breakfast includes bread with toaster, peanut butter, honey and coffee laid out as well as eggs, fruit, jams and yoghurts in the fridge, and homemade bakes on the table.
A cat lives in the hotel but doesn't go into the rooms.
Overall it was a wonderful place to stay. However, be advised that the building isn't manned by staff 24/7. Instead, entry is secured via a key code on the outside doors as well as your room itself.
Unfortunately, there was a mix up with my booking outside of my control and I was unable to gain access to the property when I arrived. After contacting Expedia to explain my situation they were able to inform one of the staff who rectified the issue and let me in.
I was fortunate that this happened mid-afternoon and was easily resolved but had I arrived late at night this may have been a problem.
For this reason, I would recommend contacting the hotel before arriving to make sure your booking and entry is confirmed, particularly if like me you are arriving from outside the US or Canada.
