If you’re not prepared, airports and flying can be challenging. But don’t hit the panic button just yet. Follow these handy tips for a pleasant start to your holiday in Gerardmer. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- First of all, pack in your passport, important documents, cash and daily medications. Next, you’ll need some extra in-flight entertainment to while away the hours. A juicy book and a laptop crammed with your favourite movies are some great options. If you intend to take a short snooze, a comfy neck pillow and some earplugs will also be useful. Finally, squeeze in a few toiletry items so you’ll arrive at your destination looking fresh and raring to go.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Squeeze all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hair gel in your checked luggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on bag larger than 3null4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by authorities. Pointed or sharp objects, like a Swiss Army knife, and dangerous products which are explosive or flammable, such as aerosol cans, spray paint and strong acids, are also restricted.
What to wear on a flight:
- The long, narrow aisles of a plane are not the best place for a fashion parade. Don comfortable layers and don’t forget to bring a cardigan as it tends to get cool in the cabin on long-haul flights. Closed-toed, flat shoes are also a good idea.
- Unfortunately, a risk of long-distance flying is developing DVT (deep vein thrombosis), a blood clot condition caused by prolonged inactivity. To prevent this from happening, take every opportunity to walk around the cabin and stretch your legs. Compression tights and socks are another great idea to help minimize this risk.
