No matter where you’re coming from, flying can be a pleasurable experience if you’ve prepared well. We’ve put together a list of essential travel tips that will help get your Muar holiday started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- It’s simple — first, pack your passport, official ID, wallet and vital medications. Next, you’ll want some entertainment to help pass the time. A thrilling book and a laptop crammed with your favourite shows are some fantastic options. If you hope to take a short nap, a quality neck pillow and some noise-cancelling headphones will also come in handy. Finally, squeeze in a toothbrush and some facial wipes so you’ll step off the plane feeling fresh as a daisy.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of prohibited items differs between airlines, the general rule of thumb is avoid carrying anything sharp, flammable or explosive. This includes things like screwdrivers, drills, fuels and bleaching agents. Sports equipment like baseball bats, and objects that could harm other people, such as pepper spray and guns, can’t come on board with you either.
What to wear on a flight:
- The long, narrow aisles of your airplane are not the best place for a fashion parade. Wear comfortable clothes and don’t forget to bring a sweater as the temperature can drop in the cabin during long-haul flights. Slightly roomy, flat shoes are also recommended.
- Unfortunately, one risk of flying long distances is developing DVT (deep vein thrombosis), a blood clot condition caused by extended periods of inactivity. To prevent this, take every opportunity to walk around the cabin and stretch your legs. Compression socks and tights are another easy way to help minimize this risk.
