We’ve got the lowdown on how to make your flight as enjoyable as possible. Follow our insider tips and you’ll be breezing through airport security and exploring Rockville in no time flat. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Travelling on a plane can be a pleasure if you carry the right stuff. First of all you’ll need basic toiletries, such as deodorant and a toothbrush, a clean pair of socks and a magazine or two. Next, find a spot in your bag for your phone and charger, your medications and perhaps a quality neck pillow as well. Lastly, don’t forget to take your passport, travel documents and your bank cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Leave all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hair gel in your checked luggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3null4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by security. Sharp or pointed objects, like a Swiss Army knife, and products which are flammable or explosive, such as spray paint, flares and fuels, are also restricted.
What to wear on a flight:
- The long, narrow aisles of an airplane are no place for a fashion parade. Layer up with comfortable clothing and bring a sweater as it can get quite cool in the cabin on long-haul flights. Flat, enclosed shoes are also a good idea.
- Unfortunately, a risk of long-haul flights is developing DVT (deep vein thrombosis), a blood clot condition caused by prolonged periods of inactivity. To prevent this from happening, take every opportunity to walk around and give your legs a stretch. Compression socks and tights are another great idea to help reduce this risk.
