"The property is nice, but not the service. The hotel promised to assist us with our luggage from the parking, but they didn't answer the phone for a long time. It was difficult to drag our havy bags by ourselves when we came with children. There was no apology, just "O we have three lines here."..Really? Parking owner knew about this hotel and knew they wouldn't answer, just empty promises. If you want to stay with people who care, you should go to another hotel."

"It is really a superb hotel. In Matera to be able to sleep in a room "cave" is quite special. The room #5 is large and had everything we needed except a big mirror. The only one was a small square one in the open bathroom above the lavabo and the lighthening was more romantic then useful there! I know it is not the same in every room as every room has a special design and decoration. The reception and the breakfast room are also beautiful. We loved the big terrasse where we could enjoy the sun...

"About half hour walk to Sassi, old town area. Parking was on the street where available. Luckily we got one opposite accommodation. Room comfortable. Private bathroom was in the hall outside the room door.The room was up three flights of stairs. Pretty hard going carrying suitcases up there. "The property is in a great location on the edge of the historic old town with views just outside of the valley and caves as well as the historic church of San Pietro Caveoso with the Casa Grotta. Breakfast was very good also. Just bear in mind that the property is in the city restricted zone so we had to park around 0.5 miles away and walk with our bags - would have been good if the property description mentioned this as well as pointing out where you can park. Maters is a fantastic little place...
