"I was thrilled to find this gem for myself and three girlfriends for a weekend! The welcoming entry with an artsy lobby that was spacious yet cozy was fantastic considering how tight NYC can be. Plus the bar and restaurant had good food and drinks to offer on a hot day. The best part however, was the staff and service! They were efficient and extremely helpful. "Really appreciated the kindness and professionalism of the staff— everyone we encountered was really top notch. The main appeal of this property was the outdoor pool. It did the trick but would have loved it to be cooler, not bathwater temp. Appreciated that it’s no-kids after 6p. Food (poolside and room service breakfast) was great, which seems rare at hotels. "We've stayed at the James twice. First with our family and second time just 2 adults. The unique after wine and snacks are particularly great. Rooms are large by NYC standards. It's quiet and near both restaurants and transportation. The speakeasy in the lower level is pretty cool. Would definitely recommend."
