Seems well suited for "backpacking through scotland" type trips and also longer stays. Also has a box of kids toys in the lounge which occupied my boy for a good while."

"A beautiful setting located right on Loch Linnhe/Loch Leven. We stayed for one night on a trip from Inverness to Glasgow. A perfect place to rest, relax and dine. Be prepared to carry your luggage up stairs to your room, no elevator available. The restaurant provided a great evening meal as well as a tasty breakfast buffet. Highly recommend this hotel!"

"The location is absolutely stunning, the welcome is warm and the house cat is gorgeous - and Queen of this particular castle. The hotel is beautiful but also quirky. Our room, the Emperor room was nicely decorated in dark green with a big antique cupboard. There’s a lovely view, only very slightly obscured by the conservatory. "We were in the riverside lodge and although the lodge was lovely it lacked privacy as the hot tub and decking area was fully visible to people walking past from the nearby bridge, passersby could see right in to the accommodation. The lodge probably wasn’t worth the total amount of money we spent but it is a beautiful setting. The lodges are marketed as luxury, but we wouldn’t class the ‘level’ of luxury as commensurate to the price - the breakfast was pleasant but basic and the shower/toilet...
