"For my purposes of visiting an unwell relative, it was perfect. However, if you don’t know the area it appears a bit run down. The appartments themselves have good security with cctv. "We didn’t even get to stay in the hotel waited 30minutes outside for them to tell us the people before damaged the property so we could not stay so they left a 18year old and 17 year old with no where to stay 3hours away from home so not the best visit if I say so myself and will not be going ..."

A beautiful city with fantastic architecture . Most museums and galleries are free. Ferens art gallery is wonderful and the museum of Yorkshire Life is excellent, William Wilberforce museum very moving. The Arctic Corsair trawler is being refurbished

even though we have stayed at the gilson 3 times and another hotel twice before that it was for medical appointments not for sightseeing so we cannot comment on places of interest

Like so many big city centres, best to avoid them at night. Initially, we decided to eat out in city centre - then saw the rough sleepers, drunks and drug users - not very welcoming! Left city centre for a pleasant meal in a pub about two miles away.

The old town is OK but east Hull is basically a no-go area in consideration of the many social housing estates. Its a bit grim in Hull
