"What really made our stay special is kindness and attentiveness of the staff. We had large suitcases, and though the train station was a five minute walk, the front desk manager noticed us struggle walking uphill and came to our rescue with a hotel van, loaded and unloaded our bags. "We were picked up from the train and immediately got a ride to the monkey park, a major reason for our visit. The hotel then sent a shuttle to pick us up and return us to the hotel where our luggage had already been taken to the room. This was a more traditional place with shoe removal and slippers provided. "A great base to visit the snow monkeys. A beautiful and traditional onsen. The breakfast and dinner was served by older ladies that did not necessarily speak English but definitely kept trying to make it an amazing experience each time. The variety of the served food was just overwhelming. So delicious and always something freshly cooked right at your table. "The hospitality (service and meals) at Shiganoyu Hotel were amazing. While we did not speak Japanese and the staff did not speak English, they used a translation tool for conversation and didn't let that be a barrier. "Loved our stay at Shibu Onsen Kokuya and would highly recommend. They made the trip into the mountains and to see the snow monkeys very easy - with transfers included and bag drop to the station. The traditional dinner and breakfast were a great experience. Also loved the variety of onsen’s available within the hotel itself - and private Onsen with your room if you want! "

"The nicest staff I have ever had. Everyone was extremely pleasant, spoke English well, and was willing to help you with anything. I very highly recommend this place to anyone! The traditional ryokan was a fun way to experience Japanese cultural and the staff was extremely happy and gracious to help us through anything we didn’t know."

"We enjoyed our stay at this onsen hotel. The staff were very accommodating and made us feel welcome, and we were able to use the private onsen, which was refreshing after a long day. We were in a room/studio that allowed us to close off the bed area so that one person was in the bother/living area with the curtains opened while another person was able to sleep undisturbed. "

"The wooden cabin is so cute and perfect for our family of four. My kids love bunk beds and my husband and I have our own room so that was perfect. It is a 10 min walk to the Happy zone ski area which was so-able. "

"Love the hotel and the staff. We had such a great time and would definitely return. The staff is nothing but great and helpful. They take the extra mile to make sure we have a great stay. The facility is nice and comfortable. Meals are good. It's like a ski in ski out. We had such a great time. Their customer service is everything that makes our stay spectacular. Before our visit, they asked us to reserve dinner. We came across a Christmas special that is a Chef hand made cake and we asked to order. They responded that the cake was really just for Christmas day celebration and since we won't check in until closer to New Year, it's out of the order date. A few days later, they emailed me and told us that they have asked the Chef if the Chef would still make us the cake. We were so surprised for the extra mile they took to provide the service. And we happily ordered the cake for our holiday celebration. Sure enough, the cake was so pretty and delicious, our family was over the moon. I told my family about the special arraignment and every was so happy and thankful for the service they provided. During our stay, we realized the area was pretty short staff due to many reasons. The staff at the hotel works very hard to make sure they cover all ground and give us spectacular service despite the shortage. It's very amazing. We will return as we had such a wonderful time. Thank you."
