One warning, do not recommend this if anyone in the party gets carsick. It is far off the beaten track, with lots of curvy roads, and a considerable amount of gravel roads."

"We loved our stay at hotel dei Capitani, would highly recommend. Montalcino is famous for truffles, wild boar, wine, and beautiful views, especially from this hotel. It is on top of a mountain and in the country so you can expect to see bugs in your room like spiders, mosquitos, stink bugs, but they are mostly all harmless and more of a nuisance than anything. No Uber or Taxi service. we contacted the Hotel and they immediately located a driver who whisked up to this lovely property which is 5 minutes to the Square and less than 10 to the Duomo. No hesitation recommending this hotel which is just as it appears in photos and is good value. "
