"Overall the experience at Casa Ateneu was a positive one The only complaint I have is the lack of communication with staff The code for the entrance was changed in the middle of our stay and we were not told about it until an hour after we had to reach out to the staff An "included" breakfast never arrived, and when we asked about it the message was never responded to These aside, good location, well kept and positive experience. "This is the best hotel in the middle of the most exciting part of downtown Ponta Delgada. Parking could be tricky if you're renting a car but there are options nearby so it would be a short walk. Fantastic restaurants are everywhere and generally you won't need to walk uphill on your way home. I'd say more specifically nice things but this is my favorite hotel and I want to have it available for my next visit. Patricia is caring and wonderful and is ready to help whenever and however you need....

"Seemed a bit expensive for what was offered (no breakfast/cafe da manha) but accomodation was extremely tight on Sao Miguel Island vs. Faial Island. A bit of traffic in the st. but I still slept well."

Has a common kitchenette that with fridge, coffe maker, utensils and such, and a cute little market steps away, along with the delicious water of the tres bicas fountain, provide low cost food options. The restaurant downstairs is also very good. "

"Peaceful & tranquil, to the highest standard, looks like a brand new hotel with a new pool area. A lovely double room with huge shower & aircon. A small fridge in the room. Cakes available at tea time & a superb continental breakfast with cooked eggs."

"I went in the off season so there were only ever a couple other guests in an 8 room Guesthouse - but the space is very well kept, clean, pretty. The courtyard is nice. Eduardo is helpful. I think it would be more difficult to share the kitchen space and you’d hear other people more if the place was full. Overall though - a good spot! Basically within the old city so it’s nice! "

"This place was amazing. We had our own bathroom and one of the best views ever. The staff was excellent, the rooms were always clean and fresh smelling. Was a little skeptical at first with no air conditioning but we never needed it. There was a ceiling fan installed during our stay as well as the balcony door opened all day and night. Never felt hot, easy to sleep. Excellent stay"

"It’s difficult to describe this magnificent property as it was beyond my expectations! Traveled with my two sons who are tall adults and the spacious room was immaculate and modern. Breakfast was fresh, plentiful and delicious . Manuela was kind and helpful even with a language barrier. The hotel made the trip even better.. a home away from home! Well done!"

"Had a great five night stay. At check in we were greeted by Elsa and Alexandra at the reception desk. Both of these ladies are true ambassadors of the hotel and the island. They were so pleasant, informative and willing to go out of their way to ensure we were made aware of all important things like tours, car rental, in house needs, restaurants, shopping, etc. It was a great way to start our visit. Our room was very good, large and quiet despite overlooking the harbour. The room and the entire hotel is spotless. Staff are constantly cleaning all areas of the facility. The breakfast area is very well managed with staff constantly clearing and cleaning tables and replenishing food. As for the staff in the hotel, there wasn’t one who didn’t greet us with pleasantries. It really appeared as though they all enjoyed their jobs and were dedicated to ensuring the guests were treated with respect. Amenities like a constant supply of bottled water, coffee supplies, daily cleaning, plush towels, robes, etc. were all part of an excellent stay. I would highly recommend the Hotel and would most definitely stay there again should we return. "

Good choice in Ponta Delgarda

"Very nice hotel with views over the marina and a short walk into town. Reasonable sized room with lovely marble bathroom. Breakfast wasn't the highest quality but the food in the bar and restaurant was otherwise excellent and very good value. Pool was nice. No kettle in room on arrival but appeared after mentioning in check-in review. Staff friendly and helpful "
