"Castello Banfi is a lovely place to take a short retreat in beautiful and astonishingly quiet surroundings. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable, with luxurious linens. The pool was pleasantly warm considering relatively cool weather. The view is lovely. We enjoyed two excellent meals at the Taverna. The staff are gracious and welcoming."

It's extraordinary, though keep in mind that you'll walk outside to go to the restaurants, the lobby, etc. We absolutely loved this. Our suite had a massive patio and amazing sunset views, though our west-facing view was just trees and not the quintessential Tuscan farmland and rolling-hills view; for that you will want a suite in Alto-Borgo, the slightly uphill part of the resort with perfect southeast-facing...

"When we arrived in charming Montalcino we were impressed by the grace and beauty of the town. When our GPS told us to stop right in the most picturesque spot, we were thrilled. Our hotel room had a lovely balcony where we sat sipping wine, eating cheese and watching the sun go down. The view looked over the historic fort, the city walls, and off into the Tuscan countryside.
