The hotel staff were very friendly and the gardens were extraordinary, we felt like we were in Hawaii. We were able to walk everywhere and just park. We had the calm of the Bay and easy access to the beach where the sunsets were heavenly.

It’s an older property but nice. It’s absolutely the best location on Pacific Beach, even though it’s across the street. It has a/c, a nice pool with bar, bay beach area with restaurant, and reliable parking. We’ve stayed at nearly all of the beach front hotels and they don’t have a/c or customer service. The beach front hotels advertise that they have parking but non-hotel guests take the parking leaving you panicking to figure out what to do. That doesn’t happen at Catamaran because their parking is gated. Much better!! We’ll never stay anywhere else!!

The property was beautiful. The front desk staff was very friendly, however, when we checked in at 4:00 pm our room was not ready, reason given was being short staffed. They were so polite and took away the fees for our valet for the two nights stay due to the inconvenience. We walked around and decided to get a drink and sit at the restaurant while we waited. We requested a table and were told to hold on a minute while they cleaned it. No one was in a hurry, it took about ten minutes for them to clean it ( only a tray of approximately 4-5 drinking glasses) and never told us when it was clean. When the bus boy finished cleaning we sat down . The wait staff walked around serving all the tables around us and it took 15 minutes before I lost hope on them coming on their own before I called for one of the waitresses to get us a drink. Mind you, the only reason we were even at the hotel restaurant was because we were waiting for our room, which was not ready until about 515. We travel quite a bit and this was one of the worst check ins. However, the staff at the front desk, the gentlemen at the valet, and two waitress at the Bay Area were very friendly and made up for the inconveniences. I would stay at this resort again with high hopes that these events would not occur a second time.

Key card was not working to open the barrier for the parking so I press the button for assistance several times with no response the car behind me use their card to open it for me . When I went to the front desk to check if my key was working , it was not . Two of the valets said they never heard the phone rang and acted like I did something wrong instead of apologizing. The valets and barista needs training in customer service. Would not recommend this hotel.

This property is beautiful, but we reserved a King Bed with garden views and received a double with concrete wall views. Be careful at check in as they switch reservations on you.

This was the perfect place for us! You are on the bay side,but can walk over to the ocean side. Lots of stuff walking distance. The hotel has tons of activities for the whole family. We will defiantly be back.

The property was amazing. Really did feel like we were on a tropical island somewhere. Being able to sit out on the bay was very peaceful and having quick access to the bay walkway was perfect. Just a quick walk to the beach and restaurants all around. The pool area was beautiful. The birds, waterfalls and koi ponds really gave it that extra touch. I do not feel some of the staff were welcoming or friendly. The valet and front door men were exceptional. Employees in other areas were not. Some of the front desk people were short with us and made us feel that we were bothering them. My boy went to the gym to check it out and inquire about the age limit. He said the girl made him feel like he was trying to sneak in and scolded and embarrassed him about needing supervision without asking his age like he was a child. They said they upgraded our room and we were moved to the tower. The room was very run down. opening the sliding glass door was a chore. The black out curtains scraped the ceiling every time I opened or closed them scraping off the popcorn ceiling which got in my eyes. The view from the room was lovely but very noisy. We could hear the A/C units or some sort of engine by the parking structure most of the time. The balcony had large holes in the ground where the cement was broken and my boy stubbed his toe. We will definitely be coming back but now I know which rooms to book.

I ordered the Garden view room through Expedia. When I arrived the manager said that there is no left garden room and we slept in ordinary room. Old and rusty room, nothing special. Very disappointed especially that we paid a lot for one night. Garden around the hotel is good.

Location is fantastic, didn't need to rent a car. Easy walks to the ocean and bay beaches. Rideshared when we left the area. The room needed a new bed (we left a night early because it hurt our backs so much). Also carpet needs a steam clean. The smart tv does not access the free wifi and you can't stream from your phone even with your own data plan. We did like the large room, suite extras, coffee shop and hot tub/garden grounds. It's top dollar for a lot that has to be forgiven. But smack dab between Mission and Pacific Beach, they still win.
