No idea what the property is like as they cancelled the day before we arrived, due to renovation work. Terrible communication. Despite knowing they were closed they sent two automated messages requesting we check in online, including passport details, and provide special requirements. Their phone didn't work & they didn't reply to several emails. There was no apology when we found out that we had been moved to a hotel across town. One automated text arrived after we had checked in there!

This is not an elegant guest house. However, I was very pleased to stay there for two reasons that put it above big hotels. We arrived about 10am after an international overnight flight. Ordinary check-in time would be 3pm. The hostess greeted us with a smile and said of course, she would get our room ready first. In 30 minutes we were resting in our room The next morning we had breakfast made to our specific preference in the quaint dining room. You never get that in a large hotel. One last thing. They organized a car to take us to the cruise terminal, making sure of the time, the right ship, and that they would take our credit card. You can’t beat good service!

Property was run down, mattresses and pillows were worn out. Holes in the curtains, stains on the carpet. One room was so hot like a sauna, you couldn't sleep. Looks nothing like the advertised pictures. Do yourself a favor and book some place else.

Staff obviously didn't check the tv or remote, neither worked properly. Staff are lovely, but gave me other remotes which were not the same model as tv and only 1 unversal one which didn't work either . Bed very uncomfortable. Breakfast was fine. Staff very uncomfortable. Shared bathroom had a shower that hadn't worked properly for ages as read past reviews saying same. Time for the owners to wake up and di some updating and spend money on the property. Wouldn't stay again.

The property is very dated. The beds were so uncomfortable. There was no one available between the hours of 8pm and 7am. If you forgot your key, lost it, or needed something. No one would answer. There was s notice inside the bedroom, stating this.

It’s a trip to a third world country but it’s England. Mattress must be 100 years old. Have to take turns turning around. Cannot believe Expedia listed this dump.

To be avoided
The young lady who received me was really very nice. The place was fairly clean in general. The facilities are really poor, however. I reported one of the two showers on the floor as being completely unusable, given the complete lack of water pressure. The other one had just barely enough to get wet. The hand-wash faucets didn’t work in either of the toilets on the floor. None of these was repaired. As for adventure , a small dog belonging to someone who visited made its way up the stairs and did its business on the carpet in front of my door. Thankfully, I saw it in time. I will not stay there again. For the same price, I recommend you go somewhere else, too.

when I checked in I wasn't. told how to get back in when I returned late at night. after I was dropped of by a taxi I found I was locked out. it was very dark so I couldn't, see what I was doing I was pressing door bells & banging on the door. Nobody came. It was midnight I am 81 years old & I found it very frightening as I do not know the area & I thought I was going to be locked out alnight. I walked to the main road & 2 young women helped me. They walked back to the house with me & one of them noticed the fob on my key ring she tapped it on the box by the side of the door & the door opened. I was so relieved if it Haden't been for them I don't know what I would have done. It was one of the worst experiences of my life. that could have been avoided if I was told about the fob on the key ring.
