"A beautiful hotel set in lovely gardens on the edge of Dartmoor National Park. Friendly, attentive and helpful staff. Very good standard of food. The classic room we stayed in was spacious, comfortable and very clean. Perfect for a relaxing break once you have negotiated the 1.5 mile single track road to the hotel!"

"The location, grounds and building are lovely. Ambiance is unpretentious and professional, the food delicious. The rooms are lovely but our bathroom was a let down. Very deep old and somewhat dangerous bathtub, with mixer shower taps. No way to shower without flooding. Very limited shelving/storage - nowhere to put washbags etc."

"Lovely place and surroundings with very friendly staff. The garden studio was lovely. The only couple of negative points I had were: the blinds and window areas were very dirty with cobwebs in the window area near the bed, so I didn't open the windows. The room smelt like dogs in places. I'm aware pets are allowed but I thought a thorough clean would take place before the next guest. It wasn't great for my asthma symptoms. Apart from this, it was all fine :-)"

"Everything we hoped it would be and more. Friendly, very helpful staff and fantastic food and service which started before we arrived. The views across the Exe are stunning and the extensive grounds beautifully kept. We plan to come back next summer so we can use the beautiful pool and croquet lawn.
