"Incredible hospitality and ryokan experience. Very traditional and a wonderful way to experience and appreciate Japan and Japanese culture (11th time here and have done ryokan before). Extensive kaiseki and some dishes you would never find on a restaurant menu. Place is extremely clean albeit showing a bit wear - and - tear with facilities. Do book private onsen outside. 10/10"

"Loved staying at this almost 400 year old onsen! I stayed two nights, which was perfect for me on my little two week solo Japan adventure. My room with the private onsen was clean and spacious. "This ryokan is very conveniently located beside a bus stop, which makes transportation easy around the hakone area. They also have a shuttle bus to gora station. "Great staff: we reached very late at night. The manager was kind enough to extend our onsen reservation for half hour without us asking. He stayed well past the midnight to make sure our onsen experience is complete! We are so grateful to him. Moreover, the facility is much nicer than we expected: Large lobby and living facilities, great decor and the private onsen is out of this world!"

"The exterior looks old but the interior seems to have been renovated and it is in excellent condition including the room we were in. The private onsens are in outstanding condition, the public onsens are great although not as good. The breakfast was excellent with several Japanese and western dishes. The place is close enough to the train station to walk but far enough so that the noise of the town does not bother. "
