"Our room at Aoi Hotel was very spacious, with a balcony the size of some budget hotel rooms and overlooking the Kamo River. The room gets daily cleaning and restocking, but the reception/concierge is not really present (they can be summoned with a phone call from the front desk). Overall, a unique, high-quality hotel in an excellent location."

"This is a very nice place to stay in a pretty decent location! Sanjo train station is a 6 minute walk and there are plenty of shops and restaurants surrounding the hotel. Two warnings: because it's located around some main streets, the evening and night get pretty loud. Multiple times a night there will be motorcycles and cars revving their engines incredibly loudly so make sure to bring earplugs! Second warning: the hotel rooms (in winter) are very hot. There's a thermostat in the room that...
