"Our family stayed over for a night at the hotel to visit Daisetsuzan. Hotel is very close to the cable car in small town of Sounkyo. We were there at off-season so it was quiet. "Japanese standard room was very spacious, although a bit worn around the edges. The rooftop outdoor onsen had a spectacular view of the snowy mountains at sunset. The food offered in the standard half board option was ok, not great, very cafeteria like. If you're passing thru the area, it's a good option bc of the onsen, but I wouldn't go out of my way to stay there again."

"This was such a treat of a hostel, and for a great price too. Really no complaints about the hostel itself, but be sure to know what you are getting into when you book. Bathing is done via an on-site onsen that is open from 7pm to 9am. If you are used to onsens this won't be a problem, but watch out if you've never used one before as it is a different experience.
